Vernal Fall Vernal Fall is a single cascade that measures 317ft/ 98m. This fall is fed by both snowmelt and rain fall and therefore flows year round. The period of greatest flow is during the Spring months (April-May). This fall can be viewed by hiking 3/4 of a mile up the John Muir Trail. The popular Mist Trail skirts the side of the Merced river where you literally hike up through the mist of this magnificent fall. During the Spring this hike can be very wet so sturdy footwear and raingear is a necessity. It can also be viewed from Glacier Point or the Panoramic trail. |
